April 27 2020
How much time do you spend scrolling through Netflix only to feel overwhelmed with indecisiveness? Here are a few show options based on your current mood.
I’m Feeling Curious - The Goop Lab
The scoop: A documentary series about the lifestyle and wellness company called Goop, which was launched by Gwyneth Paltrow in 2008. In the opening sequence, Paltrow is seen sitting around a conference table with her employees and says, “We’re here one time, one life. How can we really, like, milk the sh*t out of this?”
Our take: While some episodes may be questionable, they are real and honest. An
example? The first episode takes you on a trip with psychedelic mushrooms to Jamaica. Curious yet?
I’m Feeling Controversial - Tiger King
The scoop: Even though we’ve all been living at home, we haven’t been living under a rock. I’m sure by now you’ve heard about the Tiger King. My initial curiosity was piqued when I saw the subtitle and preview on Netflix promise murder, mayhem, and madness. This documentary chronicles the history of a man who goes by the name Joe Exotic, and his relationships with other key players in the big cat industry.
Our take: You might be wondering how a certified cruelty-free and vegan company can recommends this as a show to watch. There are several reasons, other than the pure entertainment value of this train wreck of a show. This show has provided a platform for people to discuss a lot of topics that aren’t typically even in their ecosphere. For example, more people are discussing animal rights. They’re talking about animal cruelty and what that means or looks like. Were these animals being treated unfairly? What about breeding an endangered species, even if that means exploiting them to make a profit? Is that ok? Should that be allowed, if that means eliminating the possibility of extinction? The list is endless, and any topic mentioned above is definitely a conversation starter. We’re interested in hearing your thoughts.
I’m Feeling Lazy- Night On Earth
The scoop: Just like Blue Planet, Our Planet, Chasing Coral, or Oceans, this show is all about watching animals in their natural habitat whilst listening to a soft voice that lulls you off to sleep. The difference? It’s shot at night using special cameras.
Our take: The nighttime footage gives a different perspective on what you are used to seeing on nature documentaries. There are some truly beautiful visuals to enjoy while relaxing on the couch or maybe in the background as you work from home.
I’m Want My Mind Blown – Black Mirror
The scoop: This science fiction anthology series has a train wreck appeal. You want to look away, but you just can’t. Watch one or watch them all, but don’t say we didn’t warn you.
Our take: While the episodes are standalone, most of them revolve around futuristic technology. Some episodes may leave you in shock or cause your mind to wander down the “what-if” rabbit hole.
I’m Feeling A Binge Coming On – How To Get Away With Murder
The scoop: This thrilling series will leave you asking questions and wanting more until you have all of the answers. A story about a law professor and 5 of her students, getting tangled in what seems to be an endless web of crimes with multiple twists and reveals.
Our take: Most episodes have an exciting cliff-hanger ending, begging you to hit play on the next one. 5 of the 6 seasons are currently available on Netflix, leaving it as a binge-worthy option!
